The Heartfelt Meaning Behind Rebel Hearts Ranch

Updated: May 23

When we embarked on the adventure of starting our ranch, we knew we wanted a name that truly reflected the spirit of our home and the unique dynamic of our animals. Rebel Hearts Ranch was born out of our desire to celebrate individuality, freedom, and the strong bonds we share with our animals. Our ranch is a testament to living authentically and embracing the unconventional, both in our lives and in the way we care for our animals.

A Diverse and Unconventional Family

At Rebel Hearts Ranch, we have a mix of chickens, goats, pigs, horses, and a cow. Traditionally, people keep their animal species separated to avoid injuries and conflicts...and for good reason! However, that just didn’t work for us. Our animals had different plans, proving that love and companionship know no boundaries.

The Herd's Unique Bonds

Each of our animals has a distinct personality and their own preferences when it comes to companionship. Here’s a little insight into the eclectic relationships at our ranch:

- Jack the Horse: Jack was unhealthily obsessed with our goats. Keeping him separated from them stressed him out so much that he would break through fences just to be near them. Now, Jack and the goats are inseparable, and he is much happier.

- Rocky the Pig and Norman the Cow: These two are the best of friends. It’s not uncommon to find Rocky and Norman wandering the pasture together or taking naps side by side, enjoying each other's company. Their bond is a heartwarming sight and a constant reminder of the unexpected friendships that can blossom when animals are given the freedom to choose their companions.

- Lucy the Pig and Bo the Horse: Jack only tolerates Lucy, but he loves Rocky. Don't feel bad for Lucy tho. Luckily, she often finds comfort by scratching on our horse, Bo's legs. It's a quirky dynamic, but it works perfectly for them. BO will even share his feed with her, which says a LOT!

A Pack of Rebels

Our animals have their own hierarchy and unique ways of getting along, but at the end of the day, they are a pack of rebels with a lot of love for each other. They’ve formed their own unique herd, defying conventional wisdom and creating a family bound by affection and mutual respect. Their interactions are a daily reminder of why we named our ranch Rebel Hearts Ranch.

Then There is US

Just like our animals, my husband and I are a bit unconventional ourselves. We’re both heavily tattooed, which can sometimes lead to misjudgments. But much like our animal family, we roll to the beat of our own drums. Our tattoos are part of our identity and tell stories of our journey, much like the unique bonds between our animals tell the story of our ranch.

Embracing the Rebel Spirit

The name Rebel Hearts Ranch isn’t just a catchy title; it’s a reflection of our philosophy and way of life. We embrace the rebel spirit, whether it’s in the way we allow our animals to co-mingle or how we present ourselves to the world. Our ranch is a sanctuary where individuality is celebrated, and love is the common denominator that unites us all.

By allowing our animals to co-mingle, we’ve created a harmonious environment where they thrive, much like we do by living authentically and embracing our true selves. Rebel Hearts Ranch is a place where love and unique friendships flourish, and where every heart, whether it has feathers, fur, or tattoos, can feel at home.

Welcome to Rebel Hearts Ranch!
